Evie GatlingGrowing up in a Tlingit fishing village on an island in Alaska had its advantages for Evie Gatling–for what better time is there to read than while fishing, camping, or listening to whales play in the cove? Iris supplemented her own unique life with fantasy and science fiction novels, and now she creates fantastical worlds which are even stranger than her peculiar upbringing. She had never driven through a stoplight, eaten Chinese takeout, or gone to a football game by the time she attended college at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, but she made up for lost time while getting her Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature.
Since then, she has had three novels published in the historical romance genre, two of which have won multiple awards, including two Editor’s Picks and an Evernight Reader’s Choice runner-up for Best Mainstream Romance of 2020. Her great passion, however, has always been fantasy. So although her childhood may not have been typical, her eclectic knowledge comes in handy when describing untamable landscapes, digging out fishing hooks from various body parts, and finding one’s footing when caught between two worlds. An avid proponent of avoiding writing by traveling, trying new foods, cuddling with her fur babies, and forcing her husband to watch Lord of the Rings for the 386th time, Iris currently lives in Connecticut where she now uses writing to escape traffic sounds rather than the crashing of ocean waves.
