Leah McMichaelLeah McMichael’s writing has appeared in Image, The Rabbit Room, Tokens Show, and Harrison Center for the Arts blogs, The Troy Street Journal, The Indianapolis Recorder, and alongside the ceramics work of Becca Ito. Leah has immersed herself in 4th century Byzantium for the past eight years, completing a master’s degree in early church history and inflicting Roman dishes like garlic cheese and peaches with fish sauce upon unwary guests.
In 2022, she and Becca crowdfunded a trip to Türkiye to better ground the novel, and then co-lectured on the adventure at the 2023 National Council for Education on the Ceramics Arts. When compelled to return to the 21st century, Leah works as a naturalist at an Indianapolis conservatory, teaching classes on fermentation and introducing the public to tropical trees and tortoises. She and Becca live in Indianapolis with their six literary chickens. Represented by: Alisha West |
