Kelsey grew up in northern Indiana in a town with more cows than people.
In school, she constantly got in trouble for writing instead of paying attention in class. She wrote her first story in first grade, a chapter book about herself and her friends rescuing endangered animals from poachers.
Kelsey received her B.A. in English from Purdue University in 2017. During undergrad, she spent time studying abroad in Africa, where she taught English in Tanzania and volunteered with a conservation group in Kenya. She hasn't changed much since she wrote her first story; she still writes all the time, her handwriting is still sloppy, and she still wants to save all the elephants.
Kelsey writes contemporary young adult fiction, telling stories that she and her friends would have wanted to read in high school. She writes fiction that takes its young readers seriously, hoping to inspire them. She is an M.F.A. candidate in the fiction program at Purdue University.
When she's not writing, Kelsey can be found taking pictures, riding her horses, walking her enormous dog, or hiking (not all at the same time, however). She loves her cat, vintage film cameras, and all kinds of cheese.
EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN will be her first published novel.
